A new arthouse cinema in Northampton has been named after one of the town’s earliest acting legends.
The Errol Flynn Filmhouse, situated adjacent to the Royal & Derngate theares, opened its doors in summer 2013.
Its eponymous Hollywood hero spent part of his early acting career with the Northampton Reparatory Company, working at the Royal Theatre.
And even in these early days he proved a colourful figure, setting the scene for his latter legendary status.
The new filmhouse is managed by the Northampton Theatres Trust – which runs the two theatres – in partnership with Cityscreen, the UK’s leading independent cinema operator.
The 90-seat venue hosts the very best in world, independent, British and mainstream film, broadening the range of films available to the discerning Northamptonshire movie-goer.
Audiences are able to enjoy state of the art sound and digital film projection in luxurious surroundings. Spacious leather seating and individual side tables allow them to enjoy a tipple or two during screenings.
