Northampton is right at the heart of the largest cluster of motorsport companies in the UK and counts Cosworth among its prestige firms.
Local race fans delight in easy access to the Silverstone Circuit, putting Formula One right on their doorsteps.
Rockingham race circuit nearby hosts the British Touring Car Championship, and Santa Pod Raceway lies just to the east offering the thrills of drag racing.
Professional sport can be found right across the town, with the Northampton Saints rugby club and Northampton Town Football Club both located within the enterprise zone. Northamptonshire County Cricket Club lies a short distance from the town centre.
With Towcester racecourse just a stone’s throw away, plus a host of golf clubs, stately homes and other venues, there is no shortage of scope for corporate events and client entertainment.
Northampton is home to Althorp, ancestral home of Diana Princess of Wales. The town centre features a new cultural quarter including theatres, museums and an arthouse cinema. A heritage gateway is being developed to capture Northampton’s rich heritage, stretching back to the Bronze Age.
The town is steeped in history. It was a medieval centre of government and the location of important battles in the Wars of the Roses and the English Civil War.
Oliver Cromwell reputedly stayed here on the night before the battle of Naseby, and Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Becket, made an escape to France after being sentenced to death at Northampton Castle.
The town is also an excellent launch pad for nearby destinations including Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick, Oxford, Cambridge and London, all of which can be reached in around an hour.
